Pastor,
Michael Watson
Born and raised in northeast Arkansas, is a second-generation pastor in the Church of God in Christ. He is the husband, 45 years, to Lady W. J. and the father of three children, Farika(Etienne), Houston(deceased), and Iesha(Tristian). Pastor Watson had absolutely no intention of being a preacher, especially a pastor because he had seen the hardships through his father/pastor, the late, Superintendent James Watson. However, while serving in the US Army, stationed in Augsburg, Germany, God showed him a need in that city for a ministry that taught holiness. After trying to ignore the call from God to ministry, he organized a successful collaborative effort to plant a church in Augsburg, which is still going strong. Was licensed as a minister, in 1983, by, the late, Bishop Jerome Norman, of New York, and ordained as an Elder, in 1985, by the late, Bishop F. D. Washington, also of New York.
Pastor Watson founded and organized Community Church of God in Christ, in Greenville, Texas, which had its first worship service, August, 3, 1997. After being elevated to District Superintendent, he felt the need to move his district to his home jurisdiction, Arkansas First Jurisdiction, where he is currently serving under the leadership of Bishop Jewel R. Withers, Jr.
Pastor believes in the theme of Community Church, "Nothing Just Happens". His endeavor is to encourage people to reach their full potential as they ever keep in mind that heaven is their goal. He often says, "Excuse me if I push you. I just want you to get to where God wants you to be".
